We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Development Team Manager


• Lead and build a team of 5-12 people, growing the team as the organisation grows

• Define your team’s roadmap in partnership with your product owner, refining and building a product backlog to deliver differentiating customer experiences and enhance existing ones

• Quantify the performance of the team using metrics to guide improvements both individually and collectively

• Drive quality in all aspects of how the team operates, from backlog creation to code review, test automation, and the enhancement of DevOps and CI/CD practices

• Ensure high quality team outputs in terms of customer experience, usability, defect ratios, performance, and maintainability. On time and at quality.

• Continually drive improvements in systems and processes to ensure team is optimising its co-working and reaching high performance

• Manage all day-to-day activities of the team, act as Scrum Master, removing blockers, clearing the delivery path, and creating the environment for the team to thrive

• Lead the team technically; collaborate with architecture on technical design, lead the creation of implementation plans and facilitate/perform code reviews

• Support, enable and mentor your team, help each team member build their career development plan, and manage each team member’s performance 

• Partner with product organisation in direct customer interactions as needed

• Reporting directly to Head of Software Development

Desired Skills and Experience

• Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent, 2:1 or above

• 8+ years’ experience in designing and developing software

• Strong leadership skills, experienced at leading people and building high-performing teams

• Experience leading global teams

• Experience of roadmap planning and capacity forecasting 

• Experience of partnering with product teams, crafting high quality inputs for the team 

• Proven experience of delivering software, on time and at quality

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft development stack: C#, .Net, SQL Server, Angular 8, REST APIs

• Knowledge of software development methodologies and principles including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, TDD

• Scrum master experience

• Solid experience of software configuration management systems (TFS, AzureDevOps), CI/CD

• Knowledge of QA principles and life-cycles

• Experience with software release management techniques

• Excellent communication skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
