“Wanderlust”
I joined AMCS in 2008, initially in the role of Sales Representative for Ireland. My background was technical sales having spent 6 years in the electronic security industry. It was a steep learning curve as I had no previous knowledge of the waste and recycling industry other than putting my bin out for collection of a Monday morning! From my background in IT and Electronics I understood the technology, but I was amazed at how complex and numerous the business processes were in the industry.
Over the years I’ve held many sales roles with AMCS moving onto become Sales Manager in Ireland, as part of the growth of AMCS I’ve had the opportunity to work with customers in Europe, specifically Ireland, the UK and Scandinavia. In 2014 I moved to Sydney to establish the sales office for AMCS for ANZ. We also explored some opportunities in Thailand and won our first customer in Korea in 2018.
One of the things I love about the business is the constant learning, as soon as you think you fully understand the industry you meet a company specialising in Hazardous Waste or another interesting line of business and you are exposed to a whole new set of business processes and challenges. Meeting people and building relationships is a core part of my work and it’s interesting to see the regional challenges from country to country.
For me the next part of my journey with AMCS takes me to Madrid where I’ll establish a sales office for Iberia, it’s a brilliant opportunity to expand my experience whilst sampling a new country and culture.
